A quick update in lieu of more concrete & detailed reports with photos.
This wednesday there were multiple protests for the first Day of Action in York.
There’s a York Press report on some of the events here.
At York College, the University of York and in York city centre, students from schools, colleges and the university staged their own demonstrations yesterday as part of a national day of action protesting against Government education policy.
Following this, we sent a delegation to the Leeds occupation that evening. You can see updates from Leeds at the Occupied Leeds blog and on their twitter feed here. They’re seem to still be going strong as we write, so any support you can send them is worthwhile. Solidarity!
We currently have our own next event building, a march on York this Tuesday:
The group is co-ordinating a demonstration through Facebook, which members hope will see 500 people converge on the fountain in Parliament Street, on the day MPs are to grill Lib Dem leader Nick Clegg on the issue in the House of Commons and hold a debate on tuition fees initiated by the Labour Party.
The York group is are calling on all school college and university students and supporters in the city to join them.
The Facebook event is here. Please sign up & promote it.
There are several other University occupations ongoing, many of which you can find details about at the links on our blogroll. We’ve also tried to compile a twitter list of university groups, available here: http://twitter.com/#!/Yorkagainstcuts/solidarity
